When you're single and would like that to change, questions pile up: am I really available? Is someone approaching? What's still holding me back? Here is a spread specifically designed to answer these questions, in 5 clear and readable cards, in pure cartomancy tradition.
In short
The single's love spread uses 5 cards: your heart now, what's blocking, what's helping, the person approaching, probable evolution. Practiced with a 32-card deck, framing the question in advance. Reading takes 10-15 minutes. Ideal for taking stock of your emotional availability and anticipating encounters.
Who is this spread for?
This spread is for single people wondering about their love life:
- You're coming out of a breakup and wonder if you're ready to start again.
- You've been single for a while and wonder about what's blocking.
- You just met someone and want to see what's emerging.
- You simply want to take stock of your emotional availability.
Not a spread for couples (a different one exists). And not a yes/no spread.
Spread structure: 5 positions
| Position | Meaning | Question it answers |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Your heart today | Where are you emotionally? |
| 2 | What's blocking | What's blocking an encounter? |
| 3 | What's helping | What forces work for you? |
| 4 | Person approaching | What profile is crossing your path? |
| 5 | Probable evolution | Where does your love life go in 3-6 months? |
How to perform the spread
Preparation
Choose a quiet moment. Frame your question clearly. Avoid closed questions like "will I meet someone?". Prefer: "What should I understand about my love life right now, and what trends will weigh in coming months?". See our guide on framing your question.
Shuffle and cut
Shuffle for 30-60 seconds focusing on your question. Cut with left hand. Restack lower pile on upper.
Drawing
Draw the top 5 cards, lay them face down left to right. When all 5 placed, turn them together.
Reading
Before analyzing each card, observe the whole. See our article on red and black cards for global reading.

Mistakes to avoid
- Redoing the spread daily. Once a month is plenty.
- Trying to identify the exact person. The spread gives an energetic profile, not a name.
- Underestimating position 2 (block). Often most useful: shows what you can transform.
- Drawing for someone without consent.
- Ignoring a difficult card.
This spread doesn't say everything
5 cards is rich but doesn't replace inner work or concrete action. Cartomancy lights a path, doesn't walk for you.
