Hearts cards in cartomancy.

The Hearts family governs everything affective: love, friendship, family relationships, home, and thoughts turned to these subjects. Here is the detailed meaning of the 8 Hearts cards in the traditional Mancies method.

In short

The 8 Hearts cards (King, Queen, Jack, Ace, 10, 9, 8, 7) govern the affective and mental domain. Face cards (King, Queen, Jack) represent fair-haired or blond people close to you. Numbered cards describe affective situations or mental states. It's generally the gentlest family in the deck.

Overview: what does the Hearts family govern?

In the Mancies method, each family (suit) of the 32-card deck has its area of expertise:

When a spread contains many Hearts cards, it's the sign that feelings occupy the foreground. What is at play concerns first your emotional life.

Hearts face cards: three people

King of Hearts

The King of Hearts represents a fair-haired man (blond or light brown) over 30, who occupies an emotional place in your life. He is often a partner, a father, a long-time loyal friend. His direction of gaze (to the left) turns him toward the past: there is often an old story, a long-standing bond. If you are this man yourself, the card represents you.

Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts designates a fair-haired woman over 30. Benevolent, loyal, attentive feminine presence. She is often the spouse, the partner, sometimes the mother or a very close friend. Her gaze to the right projects her toward the future: she anticipates for you.

Jack of Hearts

The Jack of Hearts represents a young fair-haired man, under 30 (sometimes a teenager). He may be a son, a younger brother, a friend from youth, or a promising newcomer. His gaze to the left turns him toward what has happened: he may be coming for answers.

Numbered cards: situations and states

Ace of Hearts

The Ace of Hearts is the great card of feelings and emotions. It announces what touches the heart: a romantic encounter if you are single, an intensification if you are in a couple, or more broadly emotional, family, friendly joys. It is a warm card that warms the whole spread around it.

Reversed, the Ace of Hearts leaves the emotional ground for that of the home. It represents your house, your interior, sometimes a real estate project (purchase, sale, move).

10 of Hearts

The 10 of Hearts places the spotlight on your professional life. It describes your relationship to work, your current position, the meaning you give to your days. Depending on neighboring cards, it can signal a period of fulfillment, a questioning, or simply the weight your activity takes. Rarely spectacular: it observes, it situates.

9 of Hearts

One of the finest cards in the deck. The 9 of Hearts announces a success, an obstacle overcome, a situation that unblocks. Often, it comes with outside help (someone offering a hand at the right moment) or with a sign of recognition (gift, touching compliment, warming attention).

Reversed, it changes face: what should advance gets stuck. Not a disaster, but a brake, sometimes a test of patience.

8 of Hearts

The 8 of Hearts has two faces. First: a young blonde woman under 30 (daughter, sister, friend). Second: pleasures, emotional satisfactions, small joys. When it appears among face cards, it's the young woman. Between situation cards, it's the joy it announces.

7 of Hearts

The card of the mind in motion. The 7 of Hearts indicates that you think a lot, you project, you anticipate. These are not yet acts, they are ideas, projects in gestation. Very personal card that speaks of your interiority.

Reversed, it leaves daydreams to pass to action. Will comes into play: you decide to do and you go.

Combined reading: when several Hearts appear

When your spread contains 2 or 3 Hearts cards, here are some classic combinations:

Ace of Hearts + 9 of Hearts

Romantic success, happy declaration, couple project that succeeds. One of the most favorable combinations in the deck.

Ace of Hearts + 7 of Hearts

Intense romantic thoughts. Someone occupies your mind, and it is probably mutual.

King of Hearts + Queen of Hearts

United couple, solid bond. If you are in a couple, it's harmony. If you are single, it's the announcement of a couple project to come.

Ace of Hearts + Ace of Clubs

Love AND money. Rare and very favorable combination. Often: marriage, joint purchase, structuring common project. A period of plenitude.

When Hearts meet Spades

A Hearts card surrounded by Spades changes color. Joy is tarnished, attention is troubled. Example: an Ace of Hearts surrounded by the 7 of Spades and the 10 of Spades signals that your feelings are tested by annoyances and perhaps betrayals.

The reverse is also true: a Spades card softened by Hearts neighbors sees its negative charge reduced by the affective presence around.
